Understanding PDA and ODD: How Davis Concepts For Life® Can Help

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) can be challenging for both children and their families. These children struggle with following rules and managing behavior, not because they don’t want to, but because their minds work differently. Everyday tasks and interactions can become difficult, both at home and in school.

As a Davis Autism Approach® and Davis Concepts for Life® Facilitator, I bring both professional expertise and personal experience to the table—I’ve lived with ODD my entire life. I understand the frustrations and challenges that come with it, and I know firsthand how life-changing the right support can be. The Davis Life Concepts program gave me the self-control and motivation to make better choices, transforming not just my life but my family’s life as well.

The Davis Concepts For Life® program offers a unique approach tailored to helping students with PDA and ODD. Rather than focusing solely on discipline, we work on building self-regulation, understanding emotions, and developing tools to navigate rules and expectations in a way that makes sense to the child. The program typically takes 60 to 70 hours, though it can vary depending on the individual’s needs and schedule, which may span weeks or even months. The program also offers support for parents, ensuring the entire family can grow and thrive together.

If your child struggles with behavioral challenges or following basic rules, my experience and the Davis Concepts for Life® program could be the key to unlocking their potential and helping them thrive. Let’s work together to create lasting change and a supportive environment for your child.
